The cigarettes in the window caught my eye on my local street, Gulou Dongdajie and the Pekingese (or as the locals call these little dogs “Fu” or “Foo”) was passing straining on its lead. What a year 2008 has been for Beijing and its inhabitants. Around
my hutong neighborhood or any district I have visited for that matter I feel like the city has let out a collective sigh this autumn. Beijing’ers have been looking towards 2008 full anticipation and expectation for years and now the
summer spectacular is done we are ready to move on. Roll on 2009!
